  • Families and stakeholders are invited to share their views about secondary schooling in the areas of Kinross, Mindarie and Clarkson as part of a community consultation process
  • Current public secondary schools in the area include Kinross College, Mindarie Senior College and Clarkson Community High School
  • Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery has today announced a consultation process to receive community feedback on secondary schooling for families living in the north metropolitan areas of Mindarie, Kinross and Clarkson.

Currently, Kinross College enrols students from Years 7 to 10, Mindarie Senior College caters for students in Years 11 and 12, and Clarkson Community High School enrols students from years 7 to 12.

As part of the consultation process, the State Government will put forward options to the community with the aim of creating a more seamless secondary education in the area.

Options will include the opportunity for students to complete their entire secondary schooling at one campus.

The consultation will involve school communities including parents, prospective parents, school boards and councils, and parents and citizens’ associations, from primary and secondary schools in the broader north metropolitan region. Staff and other community members will also be invited to provide their opinions at community forums and in an online survey.

As stated by Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery:

“We want to make sure that students have high-quality learning opportunities close to home and have a seamless education, particularly in their secondary schooling.

“We look forward to hearing from the community and taking on board their opinions to provide the best possible education for local students.”

As stated by Burns Beach MLA Mark Folkard:

“I asked the Minister to review the current secondary education arrangements in Kinross, Mindarie and Clarkson through a community consultation process.

“So I am pleased with today’s announcement to give families the chance to have their views heard on schooling in the area.”
