Local intersection to get safety upgrade

Intersection of Station Rd and Jellicoe St prior to works.

Works to improve the safety and function of a major intersection in Loganlea will start this month.

Traffic signals will be installed at the intersection of Station Rd and Jellicoe St, which is an exit and on-ramp to the Logan Motorway.

New turning lanes and cycle lanes will also be installed.

The exit from Jellicoe Street will change to allow for left-turning traffic only.

Logan City Council Roads and Water Acting Director Daryl Ross said the major upgrade would cost $4.8 million.

“It is an important road juncture and caters for a large volume of traffic daily,” Mr Ross said.

“These works will ensure the safety of motorists using the intersection and will improve the flow of traffic.”

The road will be widened as part of the works. A site compound will be established in Jellicoe Street.

Local residents and road users can expect changed traffic conditions during the works and should plan for delays.

Works are expected to continue until June next year.
