Today at the 42nd Bill Sorell Wrest Point Sports Luncheon, Olympian and professional hockey player Eddie Ockenden was awarded the 2023 Tasmanian Sports Personality of the Year Award.
Minister for Sport and Recreation, Nic Street, said it was his pleasure to attend and see a Tasmanian legend recognised by the community.
“Eddie is already a household name across the country having represented Australia at the highest level and found incredible success in doing so,” Minister Street said.
“I want to congratulate him on this worthy accolade and to thank him for his contribution to not just sport in Tasmania, but across Australia.
“With the Paris 2024 Olympics right around the corner I wish Eddie and all other prospective Tasmanian Olympians the best of luck in their selection endeavours.”
