The Logan North Pool redevelopment will start later this month

The redevelopment of Logan City Council’s only Olympic-size 50-metre pool is set to start at the end of this month.

It is anticipated the pool will be closed for 10 months from Wednesday, June 30 for the works to take place.

City Lifestyle Chair, Councillor Laurie Koranski said once completed the redeveloped pool would benefit the community for many years to come.

“The pool is more than 30 years old and increasing maintenance and operating cost means that it was a better decision to replace the pool,” Cr Koranski said.

Logan City Council allocated $9 million in last year’s budget for the planning and associated works.

Benefits of this work will include:

  • Potential for two additional lanes, increasing pool capacity for leisure, squad training, school carnivals and regional competitions
  • Improved water quality controls
  • New energy-efficient pumps and filtration will lower power costs
  • Reduced water consumption costs
  • Removal of obsolete pipework will reduce the risks of future issues
  • Reduced pool closures for maintenance and repairs

The inSports gym, indoor pool and, Aqualogan Laurie Lawrence Swim School will still be operating during the main pool closure.
