Liverpool City Council is launching its Love Livo Local campaign to encourage residents to shop locally as the festive season approaches, with locals able to enter the draw to win 1 of 5 $100 gift cards.
Local people are invited to take a photo of a business they have recently visited and share it on Council’s Facebook and Instagram shop local post for their chance to win.
Liverpool City Council Mayor Wendy Waller said that buying local meant that you were supporting more than just the local economy.
“Liverpool is home to more than 19,000 local businesses – many of which are small businesses owned by local families and need your support,” Mayor Waller said.
“With Christmas fast approaching, it’s a great time to get your gifts from a local store or a local online business.
“When you buy local, you are directly supporting local families, jobs and helping our local economy to bounce back from the impacts of COVID-19.
“Council is working with local businesses to offer support and through initiatives such as this, provide a much-needed boost to support the reopening of local businesses after many tough months of lockdowns and restricted trading.
“By encouraging residents to visit local businesses and share their love of our region, we hope to generate local business activity and provide a much-needed boost to local businesses.
“We invite local shoppers and foodies to snap a photo of a business they have enjoyed visiting and share it on Facebook or Instagram to go into the draw to win this great prize.”
There are a number of other ways local people can support local businesses, including:
- Buy locally made products
- Buy from locally owned shops
- Choose vouchers for local experiences
- Celebrate locally and make sure you turn up for bookings
The competition will take place between 1 December 2021 and 9 January 2022.
