Love your local pool as summer approaches

It hasn’t been the warmest Spring, but warm weather is on the way and Corangamite Shire’s six outdoor swimming pools are ready to open.

Camperdown and Cobden pools have been painted and all pools have undergone maintenance works over winter.

All pools open this Saturday, 23 November, except Camperdown and Lismore which open the following Saturday, 30 November.

Council Sports and Recreation Coordinator Jane Hinds encouraged all Shire residents to “love your local pool” this season.

“Our pools are great places to beat the heat over the warmer months,” Ms Hinds said.

“Lifeguards are on duty at each of the six swimming pools to keep swimmers safe while they get some healthy, low-impact exercise.”

Ms Hinds said the pools would offer a range of social activities—including pool parties, inflatables, games and triathlons—as well as teaching skills to help people enjoy the water for their whole lifetime.

“During Water Safety Week from 2 December to 8 December, we will run educational sessions at the pools to raise awareness about water safety in our community.

“The YMCA will offer swimming lessons and all six pools will offer VicSwim—a five-day intensive summer program teaching swimming and water safety to children from 4 years of age.”

All six pools will conduct their own lap challenge and the ever-popular water aerobics will be back at Lismore.

Season tickets, which can be used at all six pools, are available from the Civic Centre in Camperdown or from the pools. They cost $169 per family, $86 per adult and $76 per child. Day tickets are $14.10 per family, $4.70 per adult and $3.80 per child.
