On 29 February Macedon Fire Brigade held its annual auction fundraiser.

Macedon fundraiser raises more than $25000

Thanks to the tremendous support of the local community, the brigade raised more than $25,000. Together with a generous grant from the RACV of $5,000 for portable tents, this was the brigade’s most successful fundraiser to date.

The brigade’s fundraiser began as a flea market but transformed into a goods and services auction, which has proved to be very successful. There were also activities and entertainment for children and fire safety information on display.

The change of focus means the event is more of a fundraiser and family day with activities. Chris Humphry and his Wild Action Zoo attended free of charge and entertained all ages. Also very popular was Susan from Animal Rescue with her petting zoo. Macedon firefighters also organised some games including fire truck construction and the fire hose-propelled truck race.

Members of Macedon Fire Brigade would like to thank the generous donors for the goods and services they provided for the auction and stalls. In addition, a big thank you to all the friends of the brigade who worked tirelessly over a number of days to ensure the event was a success.
