A major $18.9 million project at Roleystone Community College has been officially opened, delivering on a key election commitment in Darling Range.
The significant upgrades include a new sports hall, performing arts theatre, and state-of-the-art science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) laboratory.
The new sports hall is equipped with facilities for basketball, netball, volleyball, and badminton.
For performing arts students, the new drama studio includes stage lighting, audiovisual facilities, a green room, retractable seating, and supports the College’s performing arts club.
The refurbished STEM facilities provide improved classrooms for practical and contemporary science learning, including a mechatronics laboratory.
These new facilities were designed and built around the college’s existing environment, including the retention of established trees and landscaping.
The project features public artwork by Western Australian artist Marcus Canning called Balancing Act, which was created using reclaimed jarrah pylons that spent 75 years in the Indian Ocean.
The Cook Labor Government is committed to providing quality education infrastructure close to where families live.
As stated by Education Minister Sabine Winton:
