Major improvements for the safety on Porter Street and Lincoln Highway, Port Lincoln

Dept of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications

The Albanese Labor Government is pleased to announce that the intersection of a key freight route in Port Lincoln, South Australia, will receive important upgrades.

The upgrades to the intersection of Porter Street, Liverpool Street and Railway Place, at the end of the Lincoln Highway, will include the installation of traffic signals, a dedicated right-hand turn lane, improved drainage, widening and pavement works.

The Australian Government will contribute $3.6 million towards the project.

The funding has come from the Governments ongoing commitment of up to $65 million per year, through the Heavy Vehicle Safety and Productivity Program, to state, territory and local governments to increase safety outcomes and productivity for heavy vehicle operations in our regions.

This builds on the Government’s $140 million commitment over 10 years for projects to build and upgrade heavy vehicle rest areas, so drivers have the facilities they need to rest, recuperate and return safely home.
