Camden Council is continuing to invest in high-quality sporting infrastructure, with the completion of the new Camden Tennis Clubroom and significant progress being made on a number of major sports facility upgrades across the Camden area.
The newly completed Camden Tennis Clubroom provides a modern and functional base for the club, supporting its day-to-day operations and enhancing the experience for players, members and visitors. The project was jointly funded by Camden Council and the NSW Government’s Office of Sport, with Council contributing $120,000 alongside $403,000 in grant funding.
Mayor of Camden, Cr Therese Fedeli, said the completion of the clubroom was another example of Council’s commitment to delivering facilities that support the growing needs of local sporting clubs and residents.
“Sport plays an important role in bringing our community together and Council is proud to continue investing in facilities that support participation, inclusion and active lifestyles,” she says.
“The completion of the Camden Tennis Clubroom is a fantastic outcome for the club and its members, and it forms part of a broader program of upgrades being delivered across our sporting network.”
Construction is also progressing on Stage 2 of the redevelopment of Harrington Park Reserve, with works focused on a new sports amenities building, expanded car parking, spectator seating, pedestrian pathways and landscaping improvements. The $3.9 million project is being co-funded by Council and the NSW Office of Sport and is expected to be completed in September 2026, weather permitting.
Council has also recently completed a new playground at Kirkham Oval, replacing an existing but outdated play space. The upgraded playground has been relocated to improve visibility and supervision and features modern play equipment, softfall surfaces, new landscaping and park furniture.
Meanwhile, Council is preparing to commence two further sports infrastructure projects later this year.
At Kirkham Oval in Elderslie, construction of a new $4 million amenities building is underway and will deliver female-friendly change rooms, a referee room, first aid facilities and supporting amenities to service the adjacent rugby field. The project has received $1 million in funding through the NSW Government’s Greater Cities and Regional Sport Facility Fund, with Council contributing $3 million.
Council will also deliver a new $1.5 million sports amenities building at Nugget Beames Reserve in Narellan Vale. The facility will include new changerooms and additional storage to support the growing number of players, officials and volunteers who regularly use the reserve.
