Central Goldfields Shire residents are encouraged to provide input into the Master Planning process for the Princes Park, Jack Pascoe Reserve and J.H Hedges Memorial Park precincts.

The Maryborough Major Sport and Recreation Reserves Master Plan Project will establish clear direction for the further development and management of three reserves.

Central Goldfields Shire Maryborough Ward Councillor Gerard Murphy said community input into the plans was essential so that the Master Plans are relevant to the community.

“Whether you use the reserves for walking and recreation or if you play sport at any of these reserves – these plans really do involve you and we’d love to get your input.

“The plans will guide future planning, development, maintenance, management and community use at each of the three reserves and they will also help to identify priority projects so that we can make future funding submissions.”

In the 2021/22 Budget, Council allocated $60,000 for the Master Plans to be carried out, as part of the implementation of the Active Central Goldfields – Recreation and Open Space Strategy 2020-2029.

Council has appointed Otium Planning Group to lead the master plan process.

User groups and other key stakeholders are currently providing input into the plans online due to COVID restrictions.

The wider Central Goldfields community are also invited to provide input via the online survey at www.engage.cgoldshire.vic.gov.au/recreationmasterplan

Feedback closes at 5pm, Friday 24 September.

Once the Draft Master Plan has been developed, user groups and key stakeholders – as well as the wider community – will once again be invited to provide feedback.

Community members will be invited to a series of ‘Meet at the Park’ events later in the year where they can ask questions and provide feedback.

This feedback will be considered before the final Master Plans go to Council for adoption in February.
