Male injured in Ulverstone incident

About 5.30am this morning a male resident of a house in Main St Ulverstone noticed a group of three males near his house acting suspiciously in dark clothing and carrying back backs.

He was on his way to work and turned around to check on them.

As he did this, he saw the males enter onto his property and he drove toward them in his driveway to confront them.

When he did this, he struck one of the males who has sustained a broken leg. The male was incapacitated and police and ambulance attended shortly after.

The other two males ran from the scene.

The injured male is being treated at the North West Regional Hospital for the broken leg and the driver of the vehicle/owner of the residence has been interviewed by detectives.

The owner will not be charged and the injured male will be spoken to after he gets out of surgery this afternoon.

The investigation will be ongoing.

Police are appealing to anyone who saw the incident or saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area of Main St Ulverstone around the time.

The two males who fled the scene have not been identified, although property was dropped by the group as they fled which may lead to identification.
