State Highway Patrol officers intercepted a high range drink driver in Malvern East this morning.
Officers were patrolling the Monash Freeway near Warrigal Road about 9am when they were passed by a C36 Mercedes Benz travelling at an alleged 122 km/h in a 100 km/h zone.
Police intercepted the car and spoke to the driver, a 49-year-old man from Malvern East.
He underwent a preliminary breath test and accompanied members to a station where he returned an evidentiary result of 0.167.
The driver had his car impounded and is expected to be charged on summons for traffic offences including drink driving, drive whilst disqualified and exceed speed limit.
