Man almost five times legal limit crashes into police car in Marrickville

A man has been charged with high range PCA after allegedly driving at almost five times the legal limit at Marrickville last night.

About 7.45pm (Monday 9 November 2020), officers attached to Inner West Police Area Command responded to reports of a white Mitsubishi Pantech truck allegedly being driven in an erratic manner at Marrickville.

Police stopped the vehicle on Victoria Road, and as officers approached the truck, it rolled backwards, crashing into the front of the police car. No injuries have been reported and the police vehicle was not damaged.

The 29-year-old male driver then drove off, continuing driving along Victoria Road, allegedly proceeding through a red light, before again being pulled over.

The Harris Park man was arrested and taken to Newtown Police Station, where he was subjected to a breath analysis, and allegedly returned a reading of 0.238.

He was subsequently charged with high range PCA and not comply with conditions of licence.

His driver’s licence was suspended before he was granted conditional bail to appear before Newtown Local Court on Tuesday 1 December 2020.
