Man arrested after assault at Parkside, South Australia

A man has been arrested after an assault at Parkside in the early hours of this morning.

It will be alleged that about 12.30am on Wednesday, 5 December emergency services were called to a house in Blyth Street after a man had called police after he had assaulted another man known to him.

The victim was later taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital for treatment, and his injuries are not considered life-threatening.

The suspect also threatened to harm himself, and STAR Group officers and negotiators were called in to safely resolve the incident.

The 23-year-old Parkside man was detained for a mental health assessment at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, and was then released into police custody where he was arrested and charged with aggravated assault causing harm.

He was refused bail and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court later today.
