Man arrested by Purana Taskforce – Brunswick West

Detectives from the Purana Taskforce have today arrested a man in Brunswick West as part of the ongoing investigation into the murder of Richard Mladenich.

The 44-year-old Brunswick West man was arrested by police on Moreland Road in Brunswick West just before 11am this morning.

The man will now be interviewed by police in relation to the murder, as well as the alleged trafficking of cocaine and vehicle insurance fraud matters.

Investigators have also executed a search warrant at a residence on Moreland Road.

In July this year Purana Taskforce detectives renewed their appeal for information in relation to the death of 37-year-old Mladenich, who was fatally shot at the Esquire Motel on Acland Street on 16 May, 2000.

A $1M reward remains on offer in relation to the murder.
