Man arrested over serious assault at Nangkita, South Australia

A man has been arrested following a serious assault at Nangkita yesterday.

About 4.45pm on Thursday 22 November, police received a report from a Nangkita man advising he had been assaulted by another man who was known to him.

The man allegedly attended at the 70-year-old victim’s home and demanded money. The man then allegedly assaulted the victim with a hammer before stealing cash.

Police will also allege that the man forced the victim at knife point to drive to an ATM at Goolwa to withdraw more money before driving the victim back home.

The victim drove himself to the South Coast District Hospital for treatment however was later airlifted to the Flinders Medical Centre. His injuries are considered life threatening.

Police reiterate that this is not a random incident.

A 47-year-old man from Willunga South was arrested and charged with aggravated assault causing harm and aggravated robbery. The man has been refused bail and is expected to appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court today.
