A man will face court today charged with firearm related offences following a search warrant in the state’s central west yesterday.
Following an investigation by the Rural Crime Prevention Team, officers executed a search warrant at a property on Goolma Road, Guntawang, about 12km south west of Gulgong about 9.20am (12 July 2023).
During a search of the property officers located and seized, 14 rifles, three shotguns and ammunition.
The occupant, a 57-year-old man was arrested and taken to Mudgee Police Station.
He was charged with six offences,
- Possess unauthorised prohibited firearm (x3),
- Possess over three unregistered firearms without licence/permit,
- Use, supply, acquire or possess defaced firearm, and,
- Possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority.
The man was refused bail to appear at Dubbo Local Court today (Thursday 13 July 2023).
