A driver has been charged after he allegedly crash landed on another car during a pursuit in Sydney’s south west this morning.
About 2am (Wednesday 9 September 2026), officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol Command attempted to stop a Mercedes AMG allegedly detected speeding on Hume Highway, Liverpool.
When the driver allegedly failed to stop, a pursuit was initiated.
A short time later, the Mercedes crashed into a roundabout at Bigge Street and Lachlan Street, before it landed on top of a Toyota Camry.
The driver of the Toyota – a 67-year-old woman – was trapped inside the vehicle for some time before being freed by Fire and Rescue NSW crews.
She was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for injuries, before being taken to hospital in a stable condition.
The driver of the sedan – a 19-year-old man – was uninjured and subjected to a roadside drug test which allegedly returned a positive result for cocaine. The result has been sent away for further testing.
The 19-year-old was arrested and taken to Liverpool Police Station, where he was charged with:
- P2 driver exceed speed greater than 45 km/h
- Police pursuit – not stop – drive recklessly
- Drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous
- Drive motor vehicle during disqualification period
Police will allege in court the man was driving at 120km/h in a signposted 70km/h speed zone.
He was refused bail to appear before Liverpool Local Court today.
