Man charged after allegedly sexually touching girls at beach in Cronulla

Police have charged a man after he allegedly sexually touched two girls at a beach in Cronulla yesterday.

About 4pm (Friday 28 December 2018), two girls – aged eight and 10 – were swimming at North Cronulla Beach when they noticed an unknown man swimming nearby.

Police will allege the man continued to swim closer to the girls, before allegedly touching them both inappropriately.

A member of the public reported the man to a lifeguard who removed him from the water, before contacting police.

Officers from Sutherland Shire Police Area Command attended and arrested a 60-year-old man.

He was taken to Sutherland Police Station and charged with intentionally sexually touch child under 10 years, and intentionally sexually touch child between 10 and 16 years.

The Cronulla man was granted conditional bail to appear at Sutherland Local Court on Thursday 7 February 2019.
