Man charged after allegedly stealing a police car number plate, NSW

A man has been charged after he allegedly stole a number plate from a marked police car in Sydney’s inner suburbs yesterday.

Just after 11am (Friday 1 February 2019) officers from Kings Cross Police Area Command noticed the vehicle, which was parked outside Kings Cross Police Station on Barncleuth Square, was missing a rear number plate.

Following inquiries officers arrested a 29-year-old man in Woolloomooloo.

It will be alleged he physically removed the number plate before leaving the scene on foot

The Maroubra man was taken to Kings Cross Police Station and charged with larceny.

He was granted bail to appear at the Downing Centre Local Court on Tuesday 19 February 2019.
