A man will appear in court today after the domestic stabbing death of a woman in Merrylands overnight.
About 10.15pm on Monday 4 February 2019, a 73-year-old man attended Merrylands Police Station where he spoke with police.
Following that conversation, the man was taken into custody and officers attended a home on Leigh Street at Merrylands.
Officers located a 63-year-old woman who had suffered a wound to her chest.
Attempts were made to assist the woman however, she could not be revived.
A crime scene was established with detectives from Cumberland Police Area Command commencing their investigation.
The man was taken to Granville Police Station where he was later charged with murder.
He was refused bail to appear at Fairfield Local Court today (Tuesday 5 February 2019).
The man and woman were married.
