Man charged and truck seized after second man hit by truck in South Granville

A man has been charged and a truck seized after a second man was hit by a truck in South Granville yesterday.

About 9.10am (Wednesday 15 December 2021), emergency services were called to Clyde Street, South Granville, following reports a man had been hit by a truck.

Officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene.

An 89-year-old man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Westmead Hospital.

He remains there in a critical condition.

The driver of the truck allegedly failed to stop and drove from the scene.

The Crash Investigation Unit (CIU) commenced investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

About 7.30pm yesterday, a 54-year-old man attended Granville Police Station where he was arrested.

A short time later, police located the truck parked and unattended on Ferngrove Place, Chester Hill.

It has been seized for forensic examination.

The man has been charged with fail to stop and assist after vehicle impact causing grievous bodily harm.

He has been granted conditional bail and will appear at Parramatta Local Court on Tuesday 25 January 2022.
