Man charged as inquiries continue into shooting near Dapto, NSW

A man has been charged as investigations continue over reports shots were fired at Lake Illawarra today.

Police were called to a home in Denham Drive, Horsley, just after 10.30am (Friday 15 November 2019), following reports shots had been fired.

Officers from Lake Illawarra Police District attended and found the front door had been damaged.

A 33-year-old man was arrested at the home over alleged breaches of a firearms prohibition order and he was taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station.

A crime scene was established, which is currently being examined by specialist officers.

The man was charged with acquire/possess/use firearm – subject to prohibition order, discharge firearm intend cause grievous bodily harm, conceal serious indictable offence of other, and recklessly deal with proceeds of crime.

He has been refused bail to appear at Wollongong Local Court tomorrow (Saturday 16 November 2019).

Detectives have established Strike Force Pestell to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

There have been no reports of any injuries.
