Man charged, drugs seized after pursuit at Bourke, NSW

Officers from Central North Police District were patrolling the Mitchell Highway about 6pm (Saturday 21 January 2023), when they directed the driver of a ute to stop; when the driver allegedly failed to comply, a pursuit was initiated.

The ute was pursued into the township of Bourke where it became bogged on vacant land in Culgoa Street.

The driver allegedly ran from the ute and was chased through yards to Yanda Street where he was arrested and taken to Bourke Police Station.

Police will allege in court that when the man’s bag was searched. Police located 99 plastic resealable bags, containing a substance suspected of being illicit. The drugs have an estimated potential street value of more than $5000.

The 25-year-old man from has now been charged with,

  • Supply a prohibited drug
  • Police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously
  • Breach of an apprehended domestic violence order, and
  • Custody of a knife in a public place.

He has also been charged for breach of bail.

The man, who is from Bourke, has been bail refused to appear via AVL in Dubbo Bail Court today (Sunday 22 January 2023).
