A man has been charged after an alleged public place shooting in Wollongong.
About 6.40pm yesterday (Sunday 5 April 2026), police were called to Albert Street, Corrimal, following reports of a public place shooting.
Officers attached to Wollongong Police District attended and found that a firearm had allegedly been discharged several times into a home following a dispute between two neighbours.
No injuries were reported during the incident.
Following inquiries, police arrested a 53-year-old man at the scene before taking him to Wollongong Police Station.
He has been charged with five offences:
- Not keep firearm safely-not pistol/prohibited firearm
- Possess unregistered firearm-not pistol/prohibited firearm
- Possess ammunition without holding licence/permit
- Fire firearm at dwelling-house disregard for safety
- Aggravated break and enter with intent/armed with dangerous weapon
He was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 3 today, Monday 6 April 2026
