A man will face court today charged after an alleged pursuit in a stolen vehicle at Tweed Heads yesterday morning.
About 9.10am on Monday 15 June 2026, police attempted to stop a vehicle in the car park of a shopping centre on Minjungbal Drive, Tweed Heads South.
Inquiries had revealed that the vehicle – a red Holden Commodore – had allegedly been stolen from a Tweed Heads home overnight.
When the driver allegedly failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated.
The pursuit continued for a short time before being terminated due to safety concerns.
Police were told a short time later that the Commodore had crashed into a truck and trailer on the M1.
No injuries were reported; however, the driver allegedly left the scene and police commenced further inquiries.
Police attended the same shopping centre about 1pm where a 34-year-old Chinderah man was arrested.
He was taken to Tweed Heads Police Station where he was charged with,
- Police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously

- Drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous
- Not give particulars to other driver, and
