A man has been charged following a pursuit through southern NSW and the ACT this morning.
About 2am (Thursday 24 September 2026), officers from Monaro Police District were patrolling Kendall Avenue North, Crestwood, when they attempted to stop a Kia hatchback.
When the driver allegedly failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated.
The pursuit continued on Kendall Avenue North before turning onto Canberra Avenue and entering the ACT.
Officers from ACT Policing continued the pursuit through the suburbs of Tralee, Hume and Tuggeranong before turning onto Lanyon Drive where the pursuit re-entered NSW at Jerrabomberra.
Officers from Monaro Police District re-enaged the pursuit which continued through the suburbs of Jerrabomberra Heights, Karabar and Queanbeyan CBD before returning to the ACT.
Officers from ACT Policing continued to pursue the vehicle and road spikes were successfully deployed on Yass Road near the intersection of Sutton Road.
The hatchback came to a stop on Crawford Street, Queanbeyan, where the driver – a 22-year-old man – allegedly ran from the vehicle and, after a foot pursuit, was arrested.
The man was searched and officers allegedly located and seized a flick knife.
During a subsequent search of the vehicle, officers allegedly located a seized a large sword, gloves and balaclavas.
The 22-year-old was taken to Queanbeyan Police Station where he was charged with police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously (second offence), drive motor vehicle during disqualification period (second offence) and custody of knife in public place.
The man was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 3 today (Thursday 24 September 2026).
