As stated by Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Phil Sayers:
A man has been charged following two assaults in Flaxmere yesterday morning.
Police were first notified at around 8.40am after a person was taken to hospital following an assault on Kirkwood Road. They remain in hospital in a critical condition.
A short time later, Police were made aware of a second assault in the Flaxmere area, on Palgrave Ave, where another person suffered stab wounds. They were not seriously injured.
Police believe the same person was responsible for both incidents.
Following extensive enquiries, a man was located and taken into custody on Liverpool Crescent just after 10am.
Cordons were established in the Sunderland Drive and Birkenhead Crescent areas while Police worked to locate the alleged offender. Those cordons have since been stood down.
Enquiries remain ongoing to establish the full circumstances of both assaults, however Police are not seeking anyone else in relation to these incidents at this time.
The man, aged 38, is due to appear in the Hastings District Court today, charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and wounding with intent to injure.
We want to reassure the community that there is no ongoing risk following these incidents.
