A man will face court today following a string of alleged theft incidents in the state’s central west this week.
Officers attached to Central West Police District commenced an investigation following reports a theft had occurred outside a home on Glengowrie Close, Parkes, sometime between 6.30pm Monday 10 August 2026 and 5.30am the following day (Tuesday 11 August 2026).
A custom, dual-axle fuel trailer – valued at approximately $30,000 – was reported stolen with around 2000 litres of diesel onboard, valued at approximately $4920.
Several tools were also stolen from a Toyota Hilux utility parked nearby, including a Trimble ‘Mushroom’ GPS receiver, an Ozito grinder and Ozito blower, other tools including spanners, pliers, and screwdrivers, and a beanie.
A break-in at a construction site at a school on Thornbury Street, Parkes, at about 11.45pm on Tuesday 11 August 2026, was also reported to police.
Officers were told entry had allegedly been forced into a building before several items were allegedly stolen including a drill, angle grinder, blower vacuum and a vacuum cleaner.
About 1.50am yesterday (Thursday 13 August 2026), police were called to a home on Warragrah Place, Parkes, following reports a vehicle had been broken into.
Officers were told an unknown man had allegedly stolen a pair of designer sunglasses from inside the SUV.
Following inquiries, about 10.15am yesterday (Thursday 13 August 2026), police located several allegedly stolen items in a laneway near Albert Street, Parkes, including several fuel drums containing diesel, a twin-turbo kit and a radio.
Police established a crime scene at a residence on Albert Street, Parkes.
During a search of the home, police located and seized items believed to be stolen and electronic devices.
A 23-year-old man was arrested at the home and taken to Parkes Police Station.
About 1pm the same day, officers executed a search warrant at a home on Currajong Street, Parkes.
During the search, police located and seized allegedly stolen items including tools, along with an amount of prohibited drugs and a laser pointer.
The 23-year-old man was charged with,
- Possess prohibited drug
- Possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit
- Goods suspected stolen in/on premises (not motor vehicle/vessel)
- Larceny
- Fail to comply digital evidence access order direction.
He was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 4 today (Friday 14 August 2026).
