A man has been charged over an alleged domestic violence assault with the assistance of a PolAir Remote drone in Moree yesterday.
On Sunday 12 July 2026, police attended a home on Jones Avenue, Moree, following reports of an assault.
Officers attached to New England Police District attended and were told a man had allegedly seriously assaulted a woman known to him before leaving the home prior to police arrival.
The woman – aged 34 – was treated at the scene for serious facial injuries before being taken by NSW Ambulance paramedics to hospital for further treatment.
Following the incident, police commenced extensive inquiries to locate the man – aged 37 – including obtaining an arrest warrant.
As part of investigations, police attended a home on Mehi Crescent Moree, about 1pm yesterday (Saturday 18 July 2026), following reports the man had been seen on the property.
On arrival, police sighted a Nissan utility drive from the property and leave the area; however, officers – with the assistance of a PolAir Remote drone – stopped the Nissan at the intersection of Adelaide and Auburn Street, Moree, where they arrested the 37-year-old man allegedly hiding in the back of the vehicle.
He was taken to Moree Police Station where he was charged with reckless wounding (DV) and contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (Domestic).
The man was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 5 today (Sunday 19 July 2026).
