Man charged over alleged stabbing in Burwood

Police have charged a man over an alleged stabbing in Sydney’s inner west earlier this week.

Just before 2pm on Wednesday 26 December 2018, it’s alleged two men – aged 35 and 38 – were involved in a fight on Selbourne Street, Burwood, causing the older man to suffer stab wounds to his torso and back and the younger man suffering facial and leg lacerations.

Another man and woman, known to the 38-year-old man were nearby and left the scene together.

Emergency services were called and located the injured 35-year-old man in a vehicle on Selbourne Street.

He was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a stable condition.

About 2.45pm the same day, the 38-year-old man attended Westmead Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Following inquiries, just after 6.30pm yesterday (Friday 28 December 2018), detectives from Burwood Police Area Command arrested a 35-year-old man at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital shortly after he was discharged.

He was taken to Newtown Police Station and charged with reckless wounding (DV) and was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court today (Saturday 29 December 2018).
