Man charged over ‘one punch’ assault in Kariong

A man has been charged after an alleged ‘one punch’ assault on the Central Coast yesterday.

About 10:30pm (Tuesday 25 December 2018), police were called to a house on Fox Close, Kariong, following reports a man had been assaulted.

Officers were told the 27-year-old man was allegedly punched once to the face by another man.

As a result, he fell to the ground and momentarily lost consciousness.

He was driven to Gosford Hospital, suffering a broken jaw and nose, possible fractured eye socket and loose teeth.

He remains in a stable condition.

Officers from Brisbane Water Police District launched an investigation into the incident.

Following inquiries, about 2.45pm today (Wednesday 26 December 2018), police arrested a 23-year-old at Wyee.

He was taken to Toronto Police Station and charged with reckless grievous bodily harm.

He was refused bail to appear at Newcastle Local Court tomorrow (Thursday 27 December 2018).
