Man charged with alleged drug and firearm offences – Moree

A man has faced court on alleged drug and firearms charges in the state’s north this week.

Officers attached to New England Police District commenced an investigation into a 35-year-old man on Sunday 31 May 2026, following reports of alleged firearms offences in Moree.

Following extensive inquiries, about 6pm Wednesday 3 June 2026, officers attached to the Tactical Operations Unit – with the support of a PolAir remotely piloted drone, officers attached to New England Police District, Western Region Operational Support Group, Western Region Negotiators, Dog Unit and State Protection Support Unit – arrested a 35-year-old man at an address on Chester Street, Moree.

Police executed a search warrant at the address, seizing approximately 16 grams of methylamphetamine with a potential estimated street value of $8000, an electronic device, and an amount of cash.

The man was taken to Moree Police Station where he was charged with eight offences,

· Possess unauthorised firearm

· Possess unauthorised pistol

· Acquire etc firearm – subject to prohibition order

· Possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority

· Acquire etc ammunition subject to prohibition order

· Deal with property proceeds of crime less than $100,000 and less than $5000

· Supply prohibited drug greater than indictable and less than commercial quantity

· Breach of bail.

He was refused bail and faced Bail Division Court 5 yesterday (Thursday 4 June 2026), where he was formally refused bail to reappear before Moree Local Court on Monday 15 June 2026.
