Police have charged a man with 13 offences following investigations into the alleged grooming and indecent assault of a teenager.
It is alleged between 2020 to 2024 a now 45-year-old man committed offences towards a boy aged in his early teens during the course of his duties as a disability support worker.
The matter was first reported to police in mid September 2026.
Morningside Child Protection Investigation Unit (CPIU) immediately commenced investigations and arrested the 45-year-old man on 30 September.
The 45-year-old Moorooka man was charged with 13 offences including three counts of indecent treatment of children under 16, two counts each of grooming child under 16 years – facilitate procurement of child to engage in sexual acts, supplying dangerous drugs to minor under 16 years old, indecent treatment of child under 16 (indecent film etc) and one count each of indecent treatment of child under 16 (permit), indecent treatment of child under 16 (expose), indecent treatment of child under 16 (procure to commit) and carnal knowledge with children under 16 carer.
The man was held in custody and first appeared before Brisbane Magistrates Court on 1 October. He is expected to reappear on 23 November.
Investigations remain ongoing.
Morningside CPIU Officer in Charge, Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Connor Grant urges anyone else with information to contact police.
“I acknowledge the enormous courage the victim has shown in coming forward. No one should have to experience alleged offences of this nature, especially from someone who is meant to care for them,” Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Grant said.
“Police treat any reports of this nature with the utmost seriousness.
