Man charged with high range PCA after police pursuit – Mudgee

A man will face court, charged following a police pursuit in the state’s Central West on the weekend.

Officers attached to Orana Mid Western Police District were patrolling in Mudgee when they attempted to stop a utility on Perry Street about 3.15am on Sunday 11 October 2026.

When the driver allegedly failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated.

The pursuit continued through several streets in the Mudgee township including Horatio, Church and Robertson Streets, and nearby roads including the Castlereagh Highway, Queens Pinch Road and Wallinga Lane.

The pursuit was terminated when police lost sight of the vehicle.

A short time later, police located the vehicle travelling on Lions Drive and Kellett Drive, before the driver – a 19-year-old man – allegedly fled from the vehicle and into a nearby backyard before attempting to enter a home.

Police arrested the man, before searching him, allegedly locating and seizing a bag of cocaine in his possession.

He was taken to Mudgee Police Station where he underwent a breath analysis which returned an alleged reading of 0.175.

A drug test allegedly returned a positive result to cocaine. The sample will undergo further analysis.

The man was charged with four offences,

  • Possess prohibited drug
  • Police pursuit – not stop – drive recklessly
  • Drive with high range PCA, and
  • Hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty.

He was granted strict conditional bail to face Mudgee Local Court on Sunday 11 November 2026.
