Man charged with manslaughter, South Australia

A man has today been arrested and charged with manslaughter and firearms offences in relation to the shooting death of a South Coast man during an incident in Parawa, south of Adelaide, in 2017.

The man, aged 29, from the Fleurieu Peninsula, is expected to appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court this afternoon after being charged by detectives from the SA Police Major Crime Investigation Branch.

The accused was initially charged with endangering life regarding the shooting. On 29 May, 2018 this charge was withdrawn by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions in the Adelaide Magistrates Court.

The investigation has been ongoing since then.

A 21-year-old man, Bailey Robert Davenport, was shot in the head on Sunday 23 July, 2017 in a forest at Parawa. He died from his injuries at Flinders Medical Centre the following day.
