Man charged with murder following alleged neighbour dispute – Ermington

Ryde Police have charged a man with murder after he allegedly fatally assaulted another man during a dispute at an Ermington unit block overnight.

About 1am (Friday 4 September 2026), emergency services were called to a unit block on Lister Avenue, Ermington, after reports a man had been assaulted.

Officers attached to Ryde Police Area Command attended and were told a 30-year-old man had allegedly assaulted a 41-year-old man during a neighbour dispute.

During the alleged assault the younger man punched older man several times in the face before he fell down a flight of stairs where the 30-year-old continued to assault him.

Police commenced CPR on the 41-year-old before NSW Ambulance paramedics transported him to hospital; however, he died on arrival.

A crime scene was established and Ryde detectives commenced Strike Force Mimeko to investigate the incident.

Following initial inquiries, the 30-year-old man was arrested and taken to Gladesville Police Station where he was charged with murder and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Police will allege in court the assault occurred following a dispute over noise coming from 41-year-old’s unit.

The 30-year-old was refused bail to appear before Burwood Local Court today (Friday 4 September 2026).
