Man charged with possession of child abuse and bestiality material – Lake Illawarra

An 80-year-old man has been charged with allegedly possessing child abuse and bestiality material.

Police will allege between March and August 23, 2023, the 80-year-old man downloaded approximately 2600 files of child abuse and bestiality material.

Last month, just before 8.30am (Thursday 9 October 2023), investigators executed a search warrant at a home in Cordeaux Heights and seized several electronic devices, including one desktop computer capable of storing 8.5 years’ worth of continuous high-definition video recordings.

During the initial examination, investigators allegedly discovered 449 child abuse videos and 1,080 Bestiality videos.

Around 11.45am yesterday (Monday 20 November), the 80-year-old man was arrested and taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station.

He’s been charged with 12 counts of possess child abuse material and 7 counts of Possess Bestiality Material.

He was refused bail to appear in Wollongong Local Court today (Tuesday 21 November 2023).
