A man has been charged with predatory driving following an incident in Coffs Harbour last weekend.
Shortly after 8.30pm on Saturday 22 August 2026, emergency services were called to Feran Crescent following reports of a crash.
Police attached to Coffs/Clarence Police District attended the scene and were told a group of boys had knocked on the door of a home before leaving the premises on e-bikes.
A short time later, the occupant of the home allegedly entered his vehicle and followed the e-bike riders in his car.
The man allegedly mounted a gutter and continued following the boys along a nature strip before crashing into the back of an e-bike, throwing two boys from the bike.
Two boys – aged 11 and 12 – were taken to hospital for treatment. Both boys have since been released.
A short time later, police attended a home on Reid Drive, Coffs Harbour, where they arrested a 78-year-old man.
He was taken to Coffs Harbour Police Station where he was charged with predatory driving, and knowingly drive vehicle in manner menaces other.
He was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 1 on Sunday 23 August 2026, where he was granted conditional bail to appear before Coffs Harbour Local Court on Wednesday 23 September 2026.
