A man has been charged with pursuit and drug offences in the Illawarra.
About 11.45am Tuesday (4 August 2026), officers attached to the Illawarra Region Enforcement Squad attempted to stop a motorcycle on King Street, Warrawong.
The rider allegedly failed to stop and accelerated onto the street colliding with the front panel of a marked police vehicle.
A pursuit was then initiated but terminated shortly after due to safety concerns.
Following inquiries, about 12.45pm, officers attended a home in Armstrong Avenue, Mount Warrigal, and located the motorcycle and a 26-year-old man.
A crime scene was declared at the home and police allegedly located and seized 1.5 kilograms of cannabis, $42,210 in cash, steroids and mobile phones from the rear shed of the property.
The man was arrested and taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station, where he was charged with six offences;
- Police pursuit – not stop – drive recklessly
- Drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous
- Supply prohibited drug greater than indictable & less than commercial quantity
- Recklessly deal with proceeds of crime greater than $5000
- Drive motor vehicle during disqualification period
- Possess prohibited drug
He was refused to appear before Bail Division Court 3 yesterday (Wednesday 5 of August 2026), where he was formally refused bail to appear before Port Kembla Local Court on Wednesday 12 August 2026.
