Man charged with several offences including drink driving in Huonville

Police are reminding all motorists of the dangers of drink driving after a man was charged with several offences following a crash in Huonville.

Around 4.10pm on Wednesday, a driver crashed their vehicle into another car on Main Street in Huonville.

The offending vehicle left the scene of the crash and was intercepted near Castle Forbes Bay.

The 37-year-old man from Geeveston who was driving returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.100. He was charged with several offences including Exceed .05, Drive While Disqualified, and Fail to remain at the scene of a crash.

His car was clamped for three months in Geeveston. He also had his licence disqualified for another 12 months, to commence at the expiration of the current period of disqualification.

The man was bailed to appear before the Hobart Magistrates Court in December.

Police remind all motorists of the dangers of drink driving. Driving under the influence is one of the Fatal Five contributing factors to fatal and serious injury crashes on our roads.
