A man has been detained following a stabbing at Mitchell Park today.
Police were called to a home on Walter Avenue about 11.45am on Saturday 25 April following reports of a stabbing.
When police patrols arrived they found a 30-year-old woman with a number of stab wounds to her arms and torso. The woman was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to the Flinders Medical Centre in a serious condition.
A 39-year-old man from the home was detained by police and taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital for a mental health assessment.
He is likely to be charged later today.
Police advise that the incident was not random, and the man and woman are known to each other.
