Man dies after being found critically injured in North Albury

An investigation is underway after a man died, and a house was damaged by fire, in North Albury yesterday.

Police have been told a 39-year-old man arrived at a friend’s home in Glenly Street about 4pm (Thursday 21 January 2021), seeking help for extensive burns.

The friend flagged down a passing ambulance and the man was taken to Albury Base Hospital.

A short time later, officers from Fire and Rescue NSW were called to a house fire in Mate Street, North Albury. They were able to contain the blaze to the single building; however, the home sustained substantial damage.

Officers from Murray River Police District have established crime scenes at both homes in Mate and Glenly streets.

The Mate Street crime scene will be examined by Scene of Crime officers and Fire Investigators today (Friday 22 January 2021).

Police have now been advised the injured man died in hospital about 10pm.
