Man dies after boat capsizes, NSW

A man has died after a boat capsized in the state’s north this morning.

About 7.30am (Thursday 4 April 2019), emergency services were called to the Richmond River at East Wardell, following reports a boat had capsized.

A man, believed to be aged in his 60s, was pulled from the river and, despite attempts to resuscitate him, he could not be revived. He has not been formally identified.

Another man, aged 37, has been taken to Lismore Base Hospital for mandatory testing.

Officers from Richmond Police District established a crime scene and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
