Man Dies After Bookabie Robbery

A man has died following an alleged robbery earlier in the year.

About 10am on Saturday 20 January, a man was found unresponsive with a serious head injury near Eyre Highway at Bookabie.

The victim, a 67-year-old man from Scotdesco Community, was admitted to hospital where he was being treated.

On the same day, following an investigation, a 39-year-old man from Thevenard and a 28-year-old woman from Yalata, were arrested and charged with robbery.

Both suspects were remanded in custody to re-appear in Ceduna Magistrates Court on 1 May.

This was not a random incident with all parties known to each other.

Sadly, on Wednesday 20 March, the victim died in hospital.

The matter has been declared a major crime and is being investigated by Eyre Western Local Service Area CIB Detectives.

A file is being prepared for the Coroner and charges are being reassessed.
