Man dies in hospital after crash at Oxley, NSW

A man has died in hospital following a single-vehicle truck crash in the state’s Northern Tablelands last month.

About 11am on Tuesday (30 June 2020), emergency services were called to Manilla Road, Red Hill, approximately 82km north of Tamworth, after reports of a single-vehicle truck crash.

The truck was travelling southbound when it reportedly lost control and left the roadway, travelling down an embankment before colliding with a large rock.

The driver, a 70-year-old man, was trapped for a short period of time before being freed by Fire and Rescue NSW and treated by NSW Ambulance.

He was taken to Tamworth Base Hospital in a critical condition before being airlifted to Royal North Shore, where he died yesterday (Tuesday 14 July 2020).

Officers attached to Oxley Police District continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

A report will be prepared for the information of the coroner.
