One man has died, and two others are critical after being pulled from the water near Apollo Bay this afternoon.
The trio were swimming in the ocean at Marengo when they got into trouble about 1.15pm.
A female passerby was able to bring the unconscious men to shore one by one and others on the beach began CPR.
Despite their best efforts, one man was declared deceased at the scene.
The other two were airlifted to hospital.
All are yet to be formally identified.
Police will prepare a report for the coroner.
