Man extradited and charged after three men stabbed during brawl in Redfern

A man has been extradited from Victoria and will appear in court today, charged after allegedly stabbing three men during a brawl in Redfern.

About 3.45am on Sunday 29 May 2022, emergency services were called to Cleveland Street, Redfern, following reports of a brawl.

Officers from South Sydney, Surry Hills, Leichhardt and Inner West Police Area Commands attended and found three men with stab wounds nearby.

An 18-year-old man was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a critical condition with injuries to his abdomen.

A 19-year-old man was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital in a critical condition with injuries to his chest.

A 20-year-old man was taken to Prince of Wales Hospital in a stable condition with injuries to his arm.

The men have all since been released from hospital.

Following extensive inquiries from South Sydney Police Area Command and assistance from Victoria Police, earlier this month a 20-year-old man was arrested in Preston, Victoria, and was remanded in custody.

Yesterday (Tuesday 5 July 2022), NSW detectives with assistance from specialist police from ODIN, travelled to Victoria where they sought and were granted the man’s extradition to NSW at Melbourne Magistrates court.

The man was then taken to Mascot Police Station where he was charged with three counts of wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

He was refused bail to appear in Downing Centre Local Court today (Wednesday 5 July 2022).
