A man has faced court after being extradited from Victoria, charged over alleged aggravated break and enters in the state’s Far West.
Officers attached to Barrier Police District commenced an investigation following reports of a break and enter at vineyards on Tillara Road, about 60km west of Balranald, about 4.15am on Thursday 17 September 2026.
Police were told three men, travelling in an allegedly stolen Toyota Landcruiser, had allegedly forced entry into several buildings on the property and stole a number of items.
A further break and enter incident involving three men was reported to police, allegedly occurring about 5.15am the same day at a home on Euston-Prungle Road, Euston, during which a Toyota utility, boat, trailer and fishing equipment were allegedly stolen.
Another break and enter incident was reported to police later the same day (Thursday 17 September 2026) at a home on Tapalin Road, Euston, during which several items were allegedly stolen including a Toyota Landcruiser, a rifle and a gun safe.
The allegedly stolen Toyota utility and Toyota Landcruiser have since been located in scrubland near Robinvale, and seized for forensic examination.
Following extensive inquiries, about 4.30pm the following day (Friday 18 September 2026), a Toyota utility was stopped by local police in Robinvale, Victoria.
The driver – a 26-year-old man – was arrested and taken to Mildura Police Station.
Following further inquiries, on Saturday 19 September 2026, officers attached to Barrier Police District executed a Firearm Prohibition Order search at a home on Mary Court, Robinvale, where they allegedly seized and located a stolen rifle and other items allegedly related to the investigation.
On Monday 21 September 2026, the 26-year-old man was extradited to NSW.
He was taken to Broken Hill Police Station where he was charged with six offences,
- Aggravated break and enter dwelling etc in company steal less than or equal to $60,000 (two counts)
- Aggravated enter dwelling in company intent to steal less than or equal to $60,000
- Participate criminal group contribute criminal activity
- Steal firearm or imitation firearm, and
- Fail to comply digital evidence access order direction.
The man was refused bail and appeared before Bail Division Court 4 yesterday (Tuesday 22 September 2026), where he was formally refused bail to appear before Wentworth Local Court on Tuesday 6 October 2026.
